Contest Range Duty Schedule
If you've never been to a NARAM, this will help you understand the expected schedule for range duty.
4 Shift Range Crew: We hope to have enough competitors to fully staff 4 range shifts with all the roles described here. Each shift is led by the RSO for that shift. You will be assigned a shift (Red, Green, Blue or Yellow) which you will work with all week (unless you leave early or are absent for a day, please inform us when you register). We expect to staff the crews like this, note the shortened shift on Friday:
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | ||
8-10 am | Purple | Red | Blue | Green | 8-9:30 am | Purple |
10-12 am | Red | Blue | Green | Purple | 9:30-11 am | Red |
12-2 pm | Blue | Green | Purple | Red | 11-12:30 pm | Blue |
2-4 pm |
Green |
Purple | Red | Blue | 12:30 - 2 pm | Green |
You are expected to report to your shift 15 minutes early, this means if you work first shift you should expect to be at the range and at your station at 7:45 am. This allows shifts to smoothly transition.
If you do not perform your assigned range duty on a given day, you will not be allowed to fly in the contest that day. We must be strict, as everyone needs to help out in order to have a fun and fair competition. If you do fly in an event and then do not report for range duty later in the day, we will disqualify your flights. I've never seen this actually happen at a NARAM in almost 20 years of competition flying, we are a sporting group who all like to win through fair methods and help out running the range for everyone else.
The 4-4:30pm shifts, if necessary due to multi-round flyoffs will be staffed by volunteers.
