Monday August 1st 2005 Ok got some Cool pictures today. First a correction the pics and audio last night were NOT the townhall meeting it was the Contestants Briefing !! TONIGHT is the Townhall meeting which I will provide the audio for. First the pics. I got some ultra cool pics today !! your gonna love this ! We had a reporter on the field today so hopefully we will get some good publicity from them. The CD asked me to talk to the reporter. I did not think I was all that iteresting or newsworthy so I gave him some tips on shooting rockets which he used with success and then I introduced him to someone who WOULD be able to give him something cool to photograph. Jim Flis from Flis kits with a few of his crazy foam cup rockets (they look cool and spectacular and are EXTREMELY photo friendly as you will soon discover :-) Then on the last page will be the townhall meeting. I did not take any video today. the only really video worthy things were Jim's rockets and I wanted still and I was rewarded with some amazing picture that I have already print at 8x10 with spectacular results. THATS the kind of pictures I love :-) things I can print out and hang on the wall ! |

Our local news critter :-) I ran up to jim flis and said can you have those foamies in the air in a few minutes notice ? he said yes I said good get ready we got a reporter and I told him you got some neat stuff :-) Huahahahaha :-) I shot these few with my little casio it was "ok" its got excellent (meaning near zero) shutter lag but it tends to want to use slower shutter speeds. I need to figure out how to make a profile using higher speeds cause when it does (above left) it works surprisingly well at lift off shots in a pinch. Some Precision Time and Streamer Multi Round models. As I have always know these are hard to photograph since they are relatively speaking very small and very fast. even when I do get them they dont make up all that many pixels :-) I am though surprised they came out as good as they did. I got these from 15 feet and zoomed in (VERY hard to do) and got lucky. the reward was some hard to get photographs with just enough pixels to be usable. Here and below Jim Flis prepares his GIAGANTIC 18.5 FOOT tall foam cup rocket to fly on 4 D motors on his also GIGANTIC FULLY FUNCTIONAL PortaPad (it breaks down just like the original) AWESOME LIFT OFF !! Tail Slide into its own exhaust Gliding down soft as can be RIGHT PAST the Range Head (ITS STILL IN THE AIR in this shot on the right !!) its moving slow slowly we all just watch it land :-) Touch Down. VERY COOL !! Cant wait to see it go again. I want to get some better video of it going up next time ! The Giant portapad suffered minor damage. he will have it ready again very soon. George Ranchor flew this edmonds model GREAT flight both gliders worked great except.... This one ran into Jim Flis' truck and the truck let the glider know how much it did not appreciate that by tearing it apart :-( (note JUST right of the canopy post that is the tail of the glider and down and right the blur behind the stakes is the rest of the glider parting ways from the rear. it should be a pretty easy fix though. Right is a neato blackbird going up alas.... The landing was not so nice. it suffered pretty bad but not totally mortal damage. its not know yet if the pilots ejected in time. |
