Lodging in the Canon City Area

Check this page for various lodging options in the Canon City area. There is quite a range of lodging available, everything from hotels to camping. Please note that because a place may be listed here, that is not necessarily a recommendation. We are presenting some options - and you should contact the individual facility if you have specific questions. However, feel free to post questions in the discussion area if you are looking for specific recommendations - memebers of our clubs will try to help out whenever possible.

One thing we probably can't say enough - get your reservations early, wherever you decide to stay. NARAM2000 is being held in an area of Colorado that sees a lot of tourist activity. It is not unusual for many places be booked solid during this time of the year.

Update as of 5/30/2000. NARAM2000 is just 2 months away! At this point our headquarters hotel - the Canon Inn - is filled up. Our second hotel, the Best Western in Canon City is also filled up. The contact information for these hotels is still listed below for your convenience, but please realize that they aren't taking any more reservations for this event.

The Holy Cross Abby still has some rooms available at last check, which is conveniently located next to the Canon Inn.

Canon City Lodging Link - Rather than just copy everything from this page, you can take a look at it yourself. This page has names, addresses and phone numbers for some Bed and Breakfasts, campgrounds, and hotels/motels. Plenty of choices including some common chains such as Days Inn, Best Western and Motel 8.

The Holy Cross Abby is offering low cost, clean, newly painted dorm style rooms. The Abbey is located about one block from the Canon Inn, so it would be an easy walk to attend events going on there.

$14 per night per person (double occupancy) or $20 per night (single occupancy). Linens (sheets, blanket and towels) are provided and included in the room cost. Clean towels are provided every couple of days or as needed. All rooms are co-ed. Hedley Hall will have a central swamp cooling system installed by the end of May 2000. (For those of you from moist climates, it's our version of central air with added moisture for our dry climate). Each room also has its one window, sink, and mirror with a desk and closet/drawers for each occupant. There is ample room for rocketeers to put their models together and store them out of "harms way."

There is a "Commons Area" on each floor equipped with a lounge (living room style set up)and Satellite TV. One TV has a VCR. One floor also has a soda pop machine and a coffee maker. There is also a small kitchen area located on the main entrance level with a microwave, stove, oven and two full-sized refridgerators. Each floor also has a pay telephone.

Each floor has bathrooms and showers in a central location. These are set up for one gender per floor, alternating floors. This is to allow some privacy for personal hygiene needs.

The grounds are beautiful at the Abbey. Lots of grass, trees and well groomed with some picnic tables and barbecue (charcoal) grills available as well.

The staff are friendly and helpful. There are only a few rooms available, so make your reservations soon. You can call toll free: 1-888-588-8631 ext. 239 or ask for Paula Sheagley. She would be glad to answer any questions you may have and assist with reservations.
