R&D - B DIVISION PRIZES
Cash prizes will be
offered for the B Division R&D event at NARAM-46 to be held at The Plains, Virginia, July 31-August 6,
2004.
The first place prize is $1000. Second place is $600, third is $400, and
fourth is $200. As many as ten $100 honorable mention prizes may be
awarded to qualifying entries that the judges deem to be of excellent quality.
The NAR Research and Development Competition is an opportunity for members to
present research or new developments in model rocketry. These include
scientific studies of model rockets, innovations in model rocketry, and
research using model rocketry as a tool. Rules for the event are specified in
the NAR Sporting code, or Pink Book, available online at http://nar.org/pinkbook/ .
The cash prizes are offered to B division competitors only--NAR members who
were 14-18 years old at the beginning of the contest year, July
1, 2003.
Members must attend NARAM-46
to present their reports. Information on Junior and Leader NAR membership
is available at http://www.nar.org/ . NARAM-46 participants are eligible to
compete in all NARAM-46
events including R&D.
Robert Alway has donated funds to the National
Association of Rocketry (NAR) to pay for cash prizes for B Division competitors
who excel in Research and Development at the next three NARAMs
where R&D is a sanctioned event.
Robert Alway is a long-time model rocketeer , NAR member and
former NAR trustee. The prizes are funded in memory of his parents,
Clayton D. and Ida M. Alway.
