- Stargazing with Shenandoah Astronomical Society

News flash... this just in!
Join the Smithsonian Institution, Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum, and Shenandoah Astronomical
Society for a free, family-friendly astronomy program and stargazing. The event is on Wednesday,
July 30 at 7:30 pm or 8:30 pm in Front Royal, about 42 miles west of Manassas. Reservations are
required. See the flyer for more details.
- Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center

The Udvar-Hazy Center is an extension of the National Air & Space
Museum and is located near Chantilly, VA, approximately 10 miles from Manassas.
The museum houses 141 aircraft, 148 large space artifacts, and more than
1500 smaller items. Major items include: SR-71 Blackbird, Space Shuttle Enterprise,
Enola Gay, Concorde. Admission is free, but there is a $12 parking fee.
- National Air & Space Museum

The National Air & Space Museum is located on the
National Mall
in downtown Washington, DC. The museum houses 61 aircraft, 51 large space
artifacts, and some 2000 smaller items. Major items include: Wright 1903 Flyer,
Spirit of St. Louis, Apollo 11 command module Columbia, V-2, Jupiter-C,
Spaceship One. Admission is free. Parking garages are available throughout
downtown, or consider taking
Metro.
- National Zoo

The National Zoo is located in northwest Washington, DC and features more than
2000 animals representing nearly 400 species. The star attractions are
the adult giant pandas Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, and their cub Tai Shan.
Admission is free. Parking is available for $16, or

- Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

The Hirshhorn Museum is located on the
National Mall
in downtown Washintgon, DC and is one of the world's leading museums of
international modern and contemporary art. The permanent collection includes
more than 11,500 works from leading artists from the late 19th century to
the present. Admission is free. Parking garages are available throughout
downtown, or consider taking
Metro.

Grey Line offers several different sightseeinig tour packages and greatly
simplifies the task of getting around town.
- Manassas National Battlefield Park

Manassas was the site of the first major land battle of the Civil War on July 21, 1861.
The Union and Confederate armies met again on the same site on August 28-30, 1862.
Visitor Center is free, but $3 admission fee for the park grounds.

- Splash Down Waterpark

Need something bigger than the pool at the hotel? Splash Down Waterpark is located in Manassas and
has 13 acres of fun-filled water activities. Admission is $13.75 if over 48" tall,
and $10.75 if under 48" tall.
- NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

The Goddard Space Flight Center is located in Greenbelt, MD, approximately 1.5-2 hour
drive from Manassas. Due traffic conditions it could easily take 3 hours depending on
when you leave. The Visitor Center houses many exhibits including Science on a
Sphere, and an outdoor rocket garden.
