"Big Rockets"
How up close and personal can we get to the rockets like the Delta, Atlas, and Titan at their manufacturing facilities?

The Atlas' are two hours away. The Delta's are one hour away. Knowing the right people, you can get on a tour to within a foot of these prototypes, but no photographs and security clearances are required.

Why would you not be able to take pictures ?

I can see security clearances BUT what could be so top secret about these rockets?

I can answer this question somewhat for the company I work for, Lockheed Martin. It's not the rockets that are high security, but the facility. No cameras are ever allowed on the plant. Tours need to be planned well in advance of the date desired, and each person who wants to attend must be a U.S. citizen, and over a certain age (I believe you must be at least 13 years old, but I may be off on this).

The name and social security number of each person attending must be submitted on a list several weeks before the tour date. Each person gets a temporary visitor's badge while there. The tours are usually conducted on a Tuesday or Thursday, from about 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. From our NARAM site it would be about a 2 hour drive. The total time would approach 7 hours, which would probably not be feasable as part of our events.

We had a tour of the Delta plant near Pueblo many years ago, which was closer, and a much shorter tour. I believe it was on a weekend. I don't remember if there were any special security requirements back then.
