It is my understanding that the NARAM 2000 launch site is
directly across the street from the Fremont County Airport. I know that
you ("you" being the NARAM 2000 organizers) wouldn't have chosen this
site without making sure that this would not be a problem. I know that
the airport is still functioning, because I recently saw an article in
the Denver Post regarding a skydiving group that flies out of that
airport. So, I am just curious, how will the launch be coordinated with
flights in and out of that airport?
Ken has already been in contact with the local airport(s) and
the FAA. We have the 10,000' AGL approval - with windows available to
higher altitudes if/when necessary. I don't recall all the specifics,
but I believe we will be in contact with the local airport throughout
the event. Ken will probably chime in with more details . . . but I know
we're covered in this area.
There is very little traffic out of this airport during NARAM.
The skydivers stay south of the highway (airport side). I have spoken
with the airport manager, the skydiving manager and the soaring manager
and we have come to a workable agreement. We have already flown a
waivered launch at the NARAM site with full cooperation of not only
Fremont County Airport, but with the approach control of Pueblo and
Denver, all simultaneously.
