"Room Rates for Naram - Need someone to share"
I Just reserved my Room at the Canon City Inn for the Nights of July 28th to August 4th

I got a 2 bed non smoking room

I need to know if anyone can split the cost with me since it is going to run me $700 !!!

That would be $350 each if we split the cost

If you go single occupancy on your own it will cost you $613 !!

(this place better be nice http://www.naram2000.org/dcforum/images/happy.gif";>

Thanks

I was shocked to !! that is an awful lot of money

I WILL be complaining if the room is anything less than VERY VERY NICE !!

Also I may end up NOT going if I can not share the room since I can NOT afford $700 for the room at least $200 for gas $200 to eat with

That is $1100 JUST bare minimum Assuming I have all the supplies I need and do nto incur any other charges

That does not include any tolls I might have to pay etc..

at that price I can not go http://www.naram2000.org/dcforum/images/sad.gif";>

Hi Chris,

There are a couple points that should be made clear.

As far as I know, the final room cost has not been confirmed. I know Ken is working on it - but it has not yet been finalized.
We checked the pricing at other hotels in the area - and this one was in the middle. Some were a little less - some a little more. Everyone needs to realize that the launch site is in the midst of 'vacation land', and the hotels get premium prices at this time of year. Because of the 'total package' that the Canon Inn provides (banquet room, location, rooms we can use during the week, etc.), we choose them. That said - the management at this hotel has been very accommodating and helpful. I hope everyone attending will treat them
with the respect they deserve.
There are other, less expensive options. We'll be posting more information on the web site as we get it together - there are campgrounds (with various levels of roughing it), RV parks, motels, hotels, etc. Again, we'll post more information as it becomes available. Just remember to try and make your reservations early - it's not unusual for these places to fill up.

We were concerned about the price of the hotel rooms too - but it was really the best option as far as the 'official' hotel goes. I believe there are enough alternatives that the cost of lodging shouldn't prevent anyone from coming and having a great time!

I'm curious - what were the room rates per night that you were quoted? These numbers seem high, especially since the special NARAM rates haven't been published, and probably won't be available until after the first of the year. Or are you planning on being there for 10 nights?

I was quoted $84 PER night for a 2 bed room (since I can not afford to go unless I go with someone else this is required) and the 1 bed rate I believe was $74 per night (little difference)

Hopefully the naram rate will be better but I do NOT think so since when I gave the dates she asked if I was with Naram and I said yes, so they know about it I think.

Chris & Jeff: have you guys checked out the Day's Inn. It is half way between the Main Hotel and the Secondary Hotel. I made reservations a couple weeks ago and I got a room rate of $58.00 a night for a single with a queen size bed. Looking at a satelite image of Canon City from a russian satelite, it appears to be only two blocks from the main hotel, Easy walking distance. I don't know how nice the room is, but I don't know about you, but I will be spending more time on the range, vendor area and at the Main Hotel attending the events then spending time in my room. About the only time I'll spend there is to sleep and chat with other rocketeers. This will be my first NARAM and am looking forward to being able to meet Vernon Estes and launching some of my rockets on his land and meeting other long time rocketeers. I feel this might be a once in a life time event and plan on having lots of fun. If you need a cheaper hotel, try the Day's Inn. Hopefully they will still have some rooms left, but don't wait long as this hotel has only 29 rooms.

I would consider others but this trip is going to cost me a LOT of money and the $100 difference between your place and the Primary place is worth the distance. I run the naram Live Web site where I update with pics etc.. the going's on of Naram every night (usually so that the rest of the world can see. Being IN the same building as the events makes things easier on me since I can just run up to my room download the camera and run back again to the event for more pictures etc.. Plus it's a lot of fun to have so many of the common Naram people so close right next door etc..
